FCT School for the Blind Receives 205 Walking Canes

A philanthropist, Mr Yusuf Yahaya-Kwande, has donated 205 pieces of collapsible walking canes to students and teachers of the FCT School of the Blind, Abuja.

Presenting the items on Wednesday, Yahaya-Kwande, who doubles as the Founder, Yahaya-Kwande Foundation, said the gesture was in collaboration with his brother, Jemilu.

He added that some group of dedicated friends also supported the donation.

Yahaya-Kwande said the gesture was aimed at alleviating the suffering of the visually impaired students of the school.

He also said that it would improve the living conditions of the beneficiaries.

“We embarked on this mission to make a difference in the lives of those who are going through unique challenges.

”This gesture goes far beyond the physical canes; it symbolises a recognition of the potentials of these students.

”I also believe in the ability of these students to thrive inspite of their visual impairment,”he said.

Yahaya-Kwande, who vowed to support the students to attain their full potentials in life, also promised to donate some laptops to the school before the end of 2024.

Principal of the school, Mrs Uganden Ngunan flanked by Godwin Lazarus, the Head Boy and some teachers, received the items on behalf of the students
